Become Certified to Rent Our Longarm Machines
Have you ever looked at a long arm and thought...that looks like fun, then this is the class for you. We will show you:
* how to load your back, your batting, and a quilt top;
* parts of the machine;
* different stitch lengths;
* how to advance your quilt
* Free motion vs panto-graph vs Pantovision.
Once you have completed this class you will be eligible to rent either of our long arms and quilt your quilt tops (or if you are a By Annie bag enthusiast your bag sandwiches.) You will be learning on an Innova M20 and a BabyLock Regalia and should get a good feel for free motion quilting. There will be 2 people certified per session.
You do not need to be a quilter to take this class, just have to want to learn how to use a long arm. If you have no experience, you may wish to try it today and find other specific technique classes to improve your skillset. We have to tell you though, it's not as tough as you think. If you can doodle, you can free-motion long arm with a little practice.
There will be time to practice at the end of the session. We provide all materials needed for the training portion of the day. You are encouraged to bring your own small project that you want to work on:
It can be:
A quilt top no bigger than 40 x 40, we want you to successfully complete it in about 2 hours. It should be pressed and the threads clipped. A pre printed panel also works great. You should also consider a table runner or topper that would be enhanced if you added quilting stitches.
A back and batting ready to load that is at least 4 inches all the way around bigger than your quilt top. Batting can be purchased the day of your class if needed. We have 100% cotton, 80/20 cotton/poly blend or wool available by the foot. We will have white, beige or light grey thread and matching bobbins available for you to use.
Please be aware that you will be standing for the class and it is conducted over the typical lunch hour. You are welcome to bring a snack to have during the break time.
