Second Friday Night Stitch & Bitch Party
InStitches 2024 Stitch & Bitch Session Themes and menus…. We think….No…We’re Pretty Sure.
January– Trivia Night/Game Show Fun
We’re going to kick off the year with some good ol’ fashioned fun. Why Not? We can try to play old tv game shows (or not) while stitching and we’ve even come up with some fun ideas for the winners! What’s on the menu? Well there’s your first question! I know the answer has to include “the San Francisco Treat” probably accompanied by some Shish Kabobs I’m thinkin’ The first person to have a hard boiled egg in their bag will be a winner, that I can promise! Come dressed as a contestant and be ready to “Come On Down” or at least “Let’s Make a Deal” to have a great time.
February – It’s a Murder Mystery…
happening while we stitch! Yep, we’ve convinced a couple of our favorite actors to come in and help us solve what Jack the Ripper seams to have pulled off (See what I did there?) in Dixon. Participation is totally optional of course but we think it will be a super fun addition to the room while getting our projects done along the way. Come dressed as your favorite sleuth or Clue character to make it a fun night. What’s for dinner? It’s a mystery of course! Or, looks like we’re going Chicken Parmesan as the main course with a “killer” salad bar!
March – Oscars Night…. Well, the InStitches version anyway.
Walk our grey carpet in your best Academy Awards fashion statement and participate in an InStitches Oscar ceremony sure to make the real one, look better. Jimmy Kimmel has nothing on Skip and I. Plans are to have our own ballots to fill out leading up to the big night with winners recognized and rewarded for their motion picture watching prowess, or we will just draw a name. Either way it’s a good reason to break out the gown or tuxedo and give a wave to your adoring fans in the quilt shop. We considered waiting to see what Wolfgang Puck is going to be serving the celebrities for dinner but decided upon one of my family’s favorite, Chicken Dijon Fettuccine. It’s a winner!
April – Sweet Tooth
Mostly it’s just a theme to be able to enjoy the sweeter things in life. Come decked out as your favorite candy treat! Join us to see what Twix we can come up with and know the laughs are sure to be Good & Plenty! Dessert will be the star tonight but don’t worry, we’ve got a great meatloaf and mashed potato recipe that is going to warm up our tummies for the main event.
May – Its Kentucky Derby Time!
The run for the roses, InStitches style. Of course there will be a horse race! Don your best hat and be ready, we are going full Kentucky fare… Mint Juleps, Hot Brown sandwiches and Derby pie. Oh trust me on this one!
June – It’s a Bob Ross Paint Night Tribute…think Skip Ross
Huh? Google it if you must but this is a great idea….I think…except for the paint around the fabric part… But don’t you worry. We’re going to do it and have an artist on hand to help us create a 15 minute masterpiece while drinking wine, and laughing. Just like a regular Paint Night only even more fun. AND… I say we bring back the most requested S & B meal, Chicken and Waffles. I’m here for it!
July – Red, White & Blue Picnic Night
You got it. Bring us your patriotic best and we’ll produce classic summertime picnic fare; brats, homemade tator salad, burgers and all the fixins. And what’s a great picnic without a pie eating contest? Well, let’s just go with the pie eating part. Time to bring out my brother’s favorite, Fresh Strawberry Pie with even fresher whipped up cream. Hopefully I’ll impress you all, but, just in case I say we have an Apple Pie on hand as backup and make homemade ice cream. Yum! Now that’s a picnic!
August – Game Night again but not really
Board games, card games, games people play, that’s what’s up for tonight’s version of Stitch & Bitch. Come dressed as your favorite game or token. I’m thinking about Scottie Dog myself, maybe the shoe or WAIT! Vanna it is….with a lettered past. I say salad and pizza with a lively game of Twister to work it all off…. Or not!
September – The Golden Girls
Okay look…it’s late in the year and I maybe had to dig a little deep for this one, but if you think about it, it’s kinda genius. We dress as old ladys….just pick your favorite. There’s Blanche, my spirit animal, Dorothy, Sophia and everyone’s favorite Minnesotan, Rose. But there was also Stan and Niles and George Clooney too! Join in our salute to St. Olaf and Miami all in the same night. It’s Beef Stroganoff and/or Street tacos, you choose. Because there’s just gotta be cheesecake.
October – A Night at the Spa because Halloween is just too easy
Think relaxing, calm aroma therapy, yoga…yoga?! Nope, but we will keep it mellow with special gift baskets and pampering treats waiting to be claimed. Grilled Chicken breasts, coocoos, I know you’re all shocked I don’t know how to spell it) cucumber salad and fresh fruit awaits and then we’ll blow it all with Chocolate Mousse for dessert. I like it!
November – Cooking Class…well kinda!
It’s fast becoming holiday time so we thought it would be great to bring in an expert to teach us how to roll our salami. Ok, ok, work with me here…We are having a demo on putting together an awesome charcuterie board so you too can wow your friends at upcoming holiday parties and events. There will still be plenty of time to Stitch & Bitch we promise. We’re going to keep it light and fun with a sandwich bar on the menu. I’m making my favorite sandwich to share as well. The classic sloppy Joe. It’s a little messy when you try to put it on a board but we’ll just ask the expert what to do. Join us, won’t you?
December – It’s Festivus for the Restivus or a festival of fun!
Our special holiday meal complete with a cookie exchange and the white elephant tradition continues I say. Of course it’s an ugly sweater required kinda night. Bonus cookies if it lights up!
